What this result means

The estimate adds wash and dry cycle time for every load to show total machine-hours, then divides by the number of parallel wash/dry lanes to show an idealized elapsed time. Transfers, equipment mix, scheduling, and hands-on work can make actual elapsed time longer. The result is intentionally labeled as an estimate because a number can be mathematically correct while the input, unit, rule, product, or real-world application is wrong. Keep the entries with the result so another person can reproduce it.

How to use the calculator

Worked example

With two complete parallel wash/dry lanes, the idealized elapsed estimate is about 3.2 hours before transfers and scheduling constraints. Change one value at a time to see which assumption has the greatest effect. Do not round until the end unless the current rule says otherwise.
